Nick Erhart Movie Review

Nick Erhart

As a music critic I really enjoyed this film. The way the film showed the students at ETHS expressed their poetry. Poetry is a type of art, like music. The way the documentary portrays the different students ways of presenting their style is a great thing to see. It is very important to be unique in the art industry and seeing students being able to present somewhat private events in a poem or rap form is outstanding to me. The idea of the documentary was a success and was highly enjoyable to watch. Being able to know how other people work, almost as if behind the scenes of the young minds that produce such thought provoking, well created poems. This documentary, Rhythm & Poetry showed me 'behind the curtains' of what it's really like for these young, artistic, creative minds and how they express through poetry.

Ryan TerMolen Rhythm and Rhyme Review

Overall I really believe the documentary captured the essence of what poetry was and is now and how it compares to hip hop, I believe the students really poured their heart out into their poetry and expressed themselves in their own words which is what poetry is about. I thought the documentary was great and as an ETHS student thought it was great to see my peers, classmates and friends doing something they feel deeply about, some of these kids I would've never guessed had these things to say. Hip-hop culture is something relatively new to this generation and I feel as if hip hop and poetry are one in the same but one without a beat. The documentary was great and I felt that it was done very well, I know it is just a rough cut however some of the footage was a bit shaky and not that clear, I hope in the real cut the shaky footage can be settled and steadied, however other than a minor issue of shaky footage I thought it was done very well                                                                                                   and it is ice to see fellow ETHS students doing what                                                                                                     they feel passionate about.

Ferenc Zoltan Rhythm and Poetry Review

After watching the very interesting documentary Rhythm and Poetry created by the ETHS Filmmaker. The film really gets to the heart of Poetry and Hip Hop/Rap music and how they are so similar yet so different in so many different ways. I feel it depends on who it is who is reciting their amazing works of art, some people give it a music beat to their poems yet others go in the other direction which gives it a more personal feel and you can almost relate to you it and feel they are only talking to you   People today do not recognize what most people go through and through this method of express people's feelings and these poets in the film made it so much more intense and overall a better film. These people made the film great with all their hard work that they express over these competitions. If you know those kids like I do everything they say is coming straight from the heart and for them it's a great way to express all their emotions held up from their pasts.  I would highly recommend this film even though they did not succeed in making it into Louder than a Bomb they succeeded in getting their feeling expressed which was amazing. Overall a great film
